9/5/09 - We are very saddened and discouraged that the USFS and DFG have killed a sow and her two nursing cubs this week, in secrecy. They obviously decided not to inform Town officials of their plans. This only points out very clearly that the Town does NOT have a good working relationship with these agencies, and it is more important now than ever that the community at large get involved in trying to evoke a change in bear management policies in our town and surrounding Forest Service properties. Please plan to attend Town Council meetings on this issue. Your presence is very important. If you wish to share your opinions or comments, you will have 3 minutes to do so. If you are not comfortable speaking, please don't let that keep you from attending. Saving Blondie is an initiative to force a change. A comprehensive plan must be made to protect and provide for our bears. They don't deserve to be killed because of human dysfuntion. Remember: SOLUTIONS NOT DESTRUCTION. Thank you!
12/22/08 - The holiday season, and the snow are here. Cold temperatures have made the roads super slippery. Drive slow, use low gear on downhill streets and pump your brakes when vehicle starts sliding. There are animals roaming at all hours. Look in all directions for bear,coyote,raccoons,and family dogs. Close vehicle doors when loading and unloading food. bears and raccoons will invade at anytime unattended. When walking in town at night, please don't walk side by side, wear light clothing, carry flashlight or blinking device so cars, loaders, and plows can see you. The highway patrol are out in full force on 395 and our main street 203. Give yourself lots of room when driving. 9/8/08 - Thanking the Westin Hotel for hosting the bear-with-us.org pool party sunday. We had a great turn out. The tacos were awesome. We raffled off some great Stuff. Huricane Hoover and the gang Put out some great tunes, Thanks guys. Our events are getting bigger, Don't miss out. Keep checking the website For other upcoming fund raisers and wildlife elerts. See you at the next Gig. Watch your speed on minaret, starwood, and maridian. There are deer Passing in those areas. Drive slow and look around on both sides of the roads. 8/25/08 - PLEASE be carefull traveling between Bishop and Mammoth. There have been Bears and Deer killed on the highways! Dont Miss the upcoming fundraiser on Sept 7, watch this site for further information.
7/22/08 - There was a mountain lion seen running down mono street on thursday At 5:45am. Keep a close eye on your small children and small cats and dogs. If seen, Please do not approach the lion in any way. Call Steve Searles at 937-BEAR. Or M.L.P.D. Beware, early morning walkers in historical area, best known as the getto. Keep checking for updates on sightings. Drive slow, keep an eye out on main street and forest trail.
7/15/08 - Animal Planet's film crew is following Steve Searles around town. Give him your support when you see them and please stay clear when they are working.
